Drinking and driving

As we age, our bodies no longer break down alcohol as quickly. This means the effects may last longer. It’s important to consider this if you’re planning to drive when drinking. You may believe you’re within the limit – but has your body been able to process the alcohol in your system? Are you safe to drive the next day?

If you’re planning to drive today, or even tomorrow morning, be aware of how much you’ve been drinking and know your units.  Choose lower strength drinks and be aware of what time you’re stopping in the evening so that you’re body has time to get rid of the alcohol before the next morning.

The best option is to avoid drinking alcohol altogether when driving that day or the following.
